Chris brought his nutrition knowledge, broad dairy management background and large dairy herd experience to Poulin Grain in 2006. At that time, Chris had just completed his Master's Degree in Animal Science at the University of Vermont, while doing his research at the WH Miner Institute. At Miner, Chris performed some of the initial investigation into the effects of different levels of overcrowding on dairy cow health, performance, and behavior. Prior to returning for his Masters Degree, Chris earned his BS in Animal Science from Cornell University in 1995. He then followed his passion for dairying and worked for the next 8 years in dairy management and herdsman positions on three successful dairies in Vermont. Chris manages the nutrition and provides management advice to his own PGI customers, from his base in Addison County. Chris also troubleshoots on dairy management issues with other PGI representatives and customers.
Diane Norris

Diane's origins, family and home are all in Vermont's Addison County and with its dairy farmers. She has been delivering dairy management advice and nutrition and feed programs to area dairies since 1988. Fortunately, she has done so representing PGI nutrition programs, quality products and service since 1997. Diane's passion is paying attention to her customers and their cows. That relationship includes committed involvement in the dairy to assure that her customers are informed and able to make good nutrition and management decisions for their operation. When not on the dairies, Diane continues to be a leader in Addison County dairying actively involved on the VT State FSA Committee and VT State 4-H Dairy Committee and as Vice President of the Addison County Fair and Field Days.

Roger Grenier

Roger has an astute sense of the dairy business and a high degree of skill in bringing together nutrition and performance for his dairy customers. Roger has been at the front edge of dairy business and nutrition since 1977 where his dairy career began with Vigortone Ag Products. He has provided nutrition programs focused on profitability, performance and cow health for PGI customers since 1996. In addition, Roger supports the other PGI representatives in his territory in central and eastern Vermont. Roger's astuteness for dairy business management pulls from his initial degree in Dairy Farm Management from VT Technical College, his successful dairy nutrition experience and his own business, Grenier's Garden and Home Bakery. The family has operated their popular garden and bakery business on Roger's parents' former dairy operation in Waterbury since 1987. Roger is member of the American Registry of Professional Animal Scientists, dairy cattle specialty.
Kevin Kouri

Kevin has been providing dairy nutrition support to his Poulin Grain customers since May 2003. Prior to joining the Poulin Grain team, he completed his BS degree in Animal Science from the University of Vermont, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Passionate about the science of dairy nutrition, he continued on to the University of Connecticut to obtain his Master's Degree. At U Conn, his research focused on transition cows and the “Effect of increased rumen- un-degradable protein fed pre-partum on milk protein content in early lactation for high producing Holstein cows.” Kevin's research background gives him particular insight into the biology and workings of the dairy cow, and an understanding of how proper nutritional management in the herd can result in higher milk and component production. Hand in hand he is attuned to what makes transition management strategies successful. Kevin appreciates the challenge of working with diverse customers that range from small pasture dairies to larger confinement herds. He has also developed expertise in dairy goat nutrition and gained a strong customer following. Kevin is a member of the American Dairy Science Association where he has presented his own research and regularly attends the annual ADSA scientific meetings.

In his youth, Walter and his brother managed one of the family dairies. Walter then attended Burdette College in business management, and returned to managing dairies. Walter and his wife then purchased their own dairy in 1973, which they ran successfully for 14 years. Interested in pursuing a different aspect of dairy business, Walter sold the dairy in 1987, and worked as a crop specialist with dairy farms across the Northeast. Walter's dairy, business and nutrition experience make him a strong resource to his PGI customers.

T heir 1500 head operation is also a leader in today's custom heifer grower industry. Cindy‘s passion to work with cows and dairy people is a life-long commitment. She is well networked with the dairy industry and activity in her home area, Clinton County. Cindy has a strong dairy management background and extensive knowledge of nutrition, cropping and feeding management. With Poulin Grain's purchase of the Canton mill in 2005, Erik moved to Northern New York to head up the nutrition and sales team, as well as, provide nutritional service and sales to his own customers. Erik's passion is agriculture and making sure that cows under his responsibility are taken care of properly and fed correctly. He is dedicated to his people and livestock customers. Erik's two main objectives are to provide his dairies with excellent technical nutrition, using the most current software and nutrition technology, and to apply his large herd management experience to best utilize the farm's existing resources. Combined he is able to optimize the farm's profit and success and keep the cows healthy. Before moving to Canton, Erik was with Poulin Grain for 12 years in Franklin County, Vermont. He left many loyal and well established dairy customers, but the move put Erik back in his home dairy state. Erik grew up working on his family's third generation dairy farm in Whitney Point, NY with 350 cows and all home raised crops. Erik received his Associate's Degree from Cobleskill in 1995 and his BS degree in Animal Science from Cornell University in 1997, where he was also a member of Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity.

Dan began with PGI in 1990 and initially worked his way through many aspects of PGIs feed production operation. In 2001, Dan joined the Wholesale Feed Division. Since then, he has been dedicated to the growth of PGI quality feeds and service throughout New England and New York. As Director of Sales, Dan has been a key mover and very successful at establishing PGI as one of the major feed companies in the Northeast. Dan works intensively supporting the performance and racing horse industry in the Northeast providing equine athletes with high quality performance feeds based on the most current equine nutrition technology and research.

Andrew is the Technical Manager for Poulin Grain Specialty Feeds. He has life-long involvement with horses, sheep and poultry. His BS in Agriculture at the University of Vermont focused on Nutrition, Economics, Plant and Soil Science. He managed breeding and foaling at the UVM Morgan Horse Farm for 3 years reinforcing interest in the importance of nutrition in equine health. With Poulin Grain since 1998, Andrew has been involved in retail, purchasing and today spends most of his time providing nutrition and management information to dealers and livestock owners, throughout New England and New York State, on a one to one basis both at the store, and frequently in farm visits and topic oriented customer seminars.

Dan began with PGI in 1990 and initially worked his way through many aspects of PGIs feed production operation. In 2001, Dan joined the Wholesale Feed Division. Since then, he has been dedicated to the growth of PGI quality feeds and service throughout New England and New York. As Director of Sales, Dan has been a key mover and very successful at establishing PGI as one of the major feed companies in the Northeast. Andrew is the Technical Manager for Poulin Grain Specialty Feeds. He has life-long involvement with horses, sheep and poultry. His BS in Agriculture at the University of Vermont focused on Nutrition, Economics, Plant and Soil Science. He managed breeding and foaling at the UVM Morgan Horse Farm for 3 years reinforcing interest in the importance of nutrition in equine health. With Poulin Grain since 1998, Andrew has been involved in retail, purchasing and today spends most of his time providing nutrition and management information to dealers and livestock owners, throughout New England and New York State, on a one to one basis both at the store, and frequently in farm visits and topic oriented customer seminars.

Mike started at Poulin Grain in 1987, during his time he has served in many capacities throughout the company. Mike is a member of several industry organizations to include: ADSA (America Dairy Science Association) ARPAS (American Registry of Professional Animal Scientist) he serves as a Director and Past President of the Vermont Feed Dealers and Director of the Northeast Ag & Feed Alliance. In his current role, Mike provides Technical support to PGI Dairy Nutrition Advisors and directly to dairy customers throughout the Northeast. He is passionate about dairy science, nutrition, and working collaboratively with farm teams to maximize farm performance and profitability. Mike works closely with the Poulin Grain Management Team to develop and deliver high quality service, technology and products to Poulin Grain customers.

Joanne has been with Poulin Grain for over 17 years offering her expertise in sales and marketing. She and her husband Mike along with their sons Connor and Bradley enjoy spending time with each other both inside and outside at their beautiful Vermont home. Joanne says her passion is flower gardening.

Paul started working in the electronics industry in 1990 when he joined the United States Coast Guard. He has worked specifically in the computer and technology field for the last 12 years. He has a degree in Electronics Engineering and several certifications demonstrating broad-based experience in his field including server virtualization, disaster recovery, and WAN optimization. In addition to his increasing his impressive computer skill-set, Paul also enjoys teaching motorcycle safety for the State of Vermont and recently has started teaching privately to groups interested in pursuing a motorcycle permit. He has a beautiful wife of over 15-years and 3 wonderful children. He enjoys spending time with his family and friends.

Scott Birch

Dairy Farm Records
Scott is PGIs Dairy Farm Records specialist and became part of the PGI Technical Team in 2005. Scott has a BS in Animal Husbandry from Delaware Valley College of Science and Agriculture. In 2005, he joined PGI as a transition from 17 years of owning and operating a successful family farm and high performance dairy herd. Prior to that, he worked for Eastern A. I. Cooperative for 6 years. Scott integrates data from participating PGI herds and produces a monthly Attention Program Report that helps the farm and PGI nutritionist monitor health, performance and costs on the dairy. The family is passionate about and committed to dairying. Scott's wife is a 4H Educator, and their two sons pursued degrees in dairy science and dairy farm management, and are pursuing dairy careers. Scott is the 2009 chair of the FSA County Committee, and has served on the Orleans County Farm Bureau board of directors, since 1989.
Dr. Christine A. Rossiter Burhans, VMD, MS

Dr. Chris Rossiter Burhans joined Poulin Grain in 2000 to provide veterinary technical support to customers and nutrition advisors in all areas of animal and herd health. She works collaboratively with farm veterinarians to bring additional resources to customers' issues. Support activities are customized to producer needs and range from herd level assessments and on-farm clinics to troubleshooting and problem solving. Dr. Rossiter's particular expertise is in ruminant herd health and disease and veterinary diagnostics and epidemiology, accumulated from a variety of career experiences in the animal health and agriculture industry since 1980. as a Senior Extension Veterinarian at Cornell University-NY Animal Health Diagnostic Center in the 1990s, she co-founded the NYS Cattle Health Assurance Program, and she is recognized authority on Johne's disease. After moving to Vermont, she co-developed the VT Cattle Health Improvement Program in 2001. Chris is an active member of many animal health and veterinary organizations including the AABP, AASRP, AAVLD, AVMA, DCRC, NMC, and DCHA. She holds a VMD and MS in Epidemiology from the University of Pennsylvania, College of Veterinary Medicine.
