Facility Certification Institute (FCI)


“No livestock feed produced by Poulin Grain Inc. contains any protein products of mammalian origin as prohibited by 21 CFR 589.2000; nor do any of our manufacturing facilities contain, warehouse, store, or otherwise handle any prohibited protein products for use in the manufacturing of livestock feed.”

Poulin Grain, Inc. has always been committed to supplying our customers with products that are wholesome and safe. In an effort toward the prevention of Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE), often referred to as Mad Cow Disease, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is enforcing strong restrictions on the use of ruminant protein products (CFR Part 589.2000) and the transportation of livestock. Poulin Grain is in complete compliance and supports all of these guidelines. Our quality assurance policies reflect the restrictions enforced by the FDA.

As part of our commitment to the restrictions on ruminant protein products, Poulin Grain has voluntarily enrolled in a third party compliance program with the Facility Certification Institute (FCI). FCI was created with the mission of certifying feed mills, utilizing trained professional inspectors, informing the public of the advantages of certification, and most importantly, helping the feed industry establish firewalls to prevent BSE from entering our country. FCI has inspected each of our mills as well as reviewing our BSE prevention programs for which we have been certified as being in complete compliance. As part of our program we have compliance letters from all of our suppliers and have critical checkpoints in place to prevent any contaminated feed from entering our mills. FCI will be inspecting our mills on a yearly basis for updated compliance to the program. Certification also enables us to use FCI’s logo on things such as feed tags. You will notice this logo on our bagged feeds that we tag.

We feel this program benefits both the feed industry and consumers tremendously. When you purchase your livestock feed from Poulin Grain, you can be assured that you are receiving a safe and quality product.
