DESCRIPTION / USE: A 15% textured starter containing Rumensin at 66 grams per ton to control coccidiosis and improve feed efficiency.
For coccidiosis prevention and control: Handfeed at the rate of 0.14 to 0.42 mg/lb of bodyweight depending on the severity of challenge up to a maximum of 200 mg/hd/day.
For increased rate of weight gain: Feed at the rate of not less than 50 or more than 200mg. of Monensin/hd/day in not less than 1 lb of medicated feeds or after the 5th day, feed at the rate of 400 mg Monensin/hd/every other day in not less than 2 lbs of feed. During the first 5 days of feeding, cattle should receive no more than 100
mg/day.
FEEDING RECOMMENDATIONS: Opti-Heif RT should be fed to calves up to 300 lbs (about 2-4 months). Feed at a rate of 6 lbs per day, along with good quality forage, water and free choice salt. Continue feeding up to 750 lbs (about 12 months). For the next 12 months, feed Opti-Heif RT, 3-5 lbs per day, with forage, water and salt free choice.
CAUTION: Do not allow horses or other equines access to formulations containing Monensin. Ingestion of Monensin by equines has been fatal. Monensin medicated cattle feed is safe for use in cattle only. Consumption by unapproved species may result in toxic reactions. Do not feed to lactating dairy cows. Do not exceed the levels of Monensin recommended in the feeding directions, as reduced average daily gains may result. Feeding undiluted or mixing errors resulting in higher concentrations of Monensin could be fatal in cattle; must be thoroughly mixed in feeds before use; do not feed undiluted. |
