Below are AlphaLine Milk 2x/day Feeding Guidelines for average
weight calves in mild environments:
|Body Weight||Powder Weight Pounds||Final Volume to Feed (quarts)|
Mixed and fed as above, this product provides 45 milligrams of lasalocid per 100 lb of body weight. This resulting mix should be fed during periods of coccidiosis exposure or when experience indicates coccidiosis is likely to be a problem.
To prevent the development of house flies and horn flies in the manure of treated beef and dairy calves, start feeding ClariFly early in spring, 30 days before flies appear, and continue feeding through the summer and fall until cold weather restricts fly activity. Supplemental fly control measures are needed in and around barns and hutches to control adult house and stable flies which can breed in other decaying, organic matter, vegetation, silage or that migrate in from other locations.
The safety of lasalocid in unapproved species has not been established. This product is to be fed to calves only. Do not allow horses or other equines access to feeds containing lasalocid as ingestion may be fatal.
A withdrawal period has not been established for lasalocid in preruminating calves.
DO NOT USE IN CALVES TO BE PROCESSED FOR VEAL. DO NOT FEED TO LACTATING COWS. Do not add other sources of lasalocid to this milk replacer solution.
Dairy Feeding Guidelines
For Calves and Heifers:
Feed large breed calves 4 quarts of high quality colostrum within 2 hours of birth and again 12 hours later. Adjust amounts for small breed calves. If colostrum quality or quantity is low, consider using a colostrum supplement or replacer.
Offer free choice water from day 2.
Offer free choice calf starter from day 3, starting with a small amount, and increasing as they begin to eat. Calves weaned at 8 weeks of age or less should be consuming 3-4 pounds of starter grain per head per day. Never let calves go without available starter.
Wean calves off milk over a 10-16 day period.
At 12 weeks, gradually switch to heifer grower pellet, offering increasing amounts of hay.
Milk Replacer Feeding:
